An innovative approach to black and white fine art photography: combining black and white with color.

Her technique is unique, producing spectacular images.

A landscape, a tree, a branch or a single leaf , used as backdrops to the surreal.

While capturing the essence of the natural world, a black and white image is tinted in such a way that it becomes a whole new scenery, a whole new world of fine art photography never explored before.

Her path:

While being exposed to the world of advertisement, Tremblay studied commercial photography from 1987 to 1989. Her photographic work focused mainly on portraiture, covering special events and press conferences. Thereafter, she opted for black and white fine art photography.

Tremblay’s free-lance photography work was interrupted in 1989 when she accepted a three-year post at the United Nations in New York. After her experience on the international scene, and to further her interest in international relations, she decided to resume her university education at McGill University in Montreal. In 1998, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Political Science. Despite her interest in a new field of study and a strong commitment to her coursework, she continued to pursue her interest in photography.

Today, after years of experimenting with different photographic techniques, Tremblay specializes in black and white photography. “In black and white, photographs may appear timeless, and perhaps, may even appear to transcend time”. The aim is to capture not only a special moment, but to also reveal the emotion inspired by that moment. Although black and white photography is the medium she uses as a means of creative expression, she also explored the world of colors, in her own way. She recently experimented with toners and fabricated her own pigments. This exercise allowed for the creation of very special effects for the images, each evoking a different emotion as a result of its color tone. "I experience profound joy when the sun is shining, allowing me to capture images of natural scenes filled with light. In this luminescence, a landscape, a tree, a branch, a leaf appear. This source of joy is intensified when I tint the images, giving free rein to my creative expression. A new scene is then created originating from the surreal world of my imagination."
