Beatrix Magyar was born in 1953. She was the third and last child in her family. Beatrix was raised in the same city (Mosonmagyarovar in Hungary) as her mother and in the same tradition, learning art skills while surrounded by interesting and talented family members. While they loved art, it was meant to be a hobby only, not a career. She was privately tutored by a Hungarian painter in her early childhood. Later on she had more teachers in arts and crafts, who were very special and important people for her. After Beatrix finished high school, she moved to Budapest and received degrees from three different universities in Physical education, Psychology and Homeopathic Medicine. With a very busy and successful private practice as a Psychologist, she had no time to engage in her passion for painting, but studied art history and visited exhibitions in different countries.

In 2000, she moved to Canada with her 16 year old daughter Zsofi, to merry her first love, Peter, with whom she had lived in Budapest before he immigrated to Canada to complete a doctorate in Engineering in 1980. The move to Canada was a life altering experience for her, since she could not practise as a Psychologist, but with the new found time on her hands, she was able to return to her passion and take up painting again in a serious fashion.

Her thoughts and skills were influenced by old masters, while she was looking for her own style. While she is inspired by the colourful works of artists as diverse as Henry Matisse,  Amedeo Modigliani, Paul Cezanne as well as modern figurative painters, she is trying to understand abstract art as well. Her work is brimming with energy and colors, it is full of emotions, psychology and nowadays with more symbolism. Over the past three years Beatrix turned to figurative paintings. Painting was and is balm for her soul, where she could express herself, find a peace and connect with Canada as her new home. She works principally in oils on canvas and wood panel and employs layering technique.  She tries to capture the energy of the moment, or express emotions, thoughts and activities. Beatrix is permanently amazed by the colourful Canadian landscape. She realised while travelling from East to West Pacific part of  Canada that it is a paradise for painters.

Her work is represented in private collections in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa) and in Hungary. She had exhibitions in these countries and has her permanent exhibition in her house.
