Victor Kapas was born in 1958, in Huntingdon, Québec, of Hungarian parents. He graduated in 1977 from the Arts Plastique program at Dawson College in Montréal, then went on to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Concordia University in 1982, as a Studio Art Major (painting, drawing, sculpture).
A keen student of photography since the early 80’s, Victor now uses digital cameras and various software to produce his clean, highly detailed images. He prints his own photos on 100% cotton rag, fine art paper, using a pigmented inkjet process.
Quote from the artist:
"Patterns and textures are a recurring theme in my work, as I often frame various objects and details, both natural and man-made. These details are like individual instruments that each add their voice to a grand symphony. This symphony keeps playing in the background of our activities, like restaurant music, only noticed during the awkward pauses of a couple’s conversation. My work is an endeavor to resonate sympathetically with this symphony, the song of life."
